Paediatric Dispensing

Supporting Children Requiring Hospital Eye Service Spectacle Vouchers

As many of you will be aware, NUH no longer has an in-house dispensing service. They regularly see children who require specialist dispensing due to high or complex prescriptions and issue Hospital Eye Service (HES(P)) optical vouchers to contribute towards the cost of their spectacles. They hold a list of community optical practices that are willing to provide specialist dispensing services for children with complex spectacle prescriptions.

Children referred to these practices often require:

●        Careful frame selection to achieve an appropriate fit.

●        Accurate lens centration and dispensing.

●        Practical, comfortable and durable spectacles suitable for young children.

If you are a community Optometrist or Dispensing Optician with an interest and experience in paediatric dispensing and are happy for your practice details to be shared with families attending the NUH Optometry Unit, please let them know so you can be included on the NUH list. They would be delighted to hear from you.

Please provide

●        Practice name

●        Practice address

●        Contact name

●        Email address

●        Telephone number

●        Confirmation that you are happy for these details to be shared with parents/carers attending the NUH Optometry Unit.
