EeRS (Electronic Eyecare Referral Service)

Cinapsis is now ‘live’ for referrals In Nottinghamshire and as of 19th September 2024 the Cinapsis system replaces all written GOS 18 eyecare referrals to GP’s.

All Nottinghamshire commissioned providers have been uploaded onto Cinapsis.  With the exception of emergency, Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) patients and paediatrics, patients will continue to be referred via the choice centre (ICB Referral Support Service/EMMS or Health Harmonie) where referrals will be triaged and choice of provider offered.

Referrals to GP Only
The Cinapsis portal is not to be used for referrals to the GP only (e.g. for blood pressure tests).  Please continue to refer these patients directly to the GP using a GOS 18.  We expect that referrals to GP will move to Cinapsis in due course and will update you when any systems change

Referrals to both Ophthalmology & GP
Where a referral requires input from both ophthalmology and GP, please refer via Cinapsis only.  Please select the appropriate hospital clinic for the eye condition and include clearly in your referral ‘Also needs GP action’ with details.  The referral will then be passed to the GP by the choice centre.

Urgent Referrals to GP
Any referral that goes to the choice centres will join a queue for review, and hence there may be a short delay before the referral is reviewed.  All urgent referrals to GP, whether they need ophthalmology input or not, should be sent directly to the GP using a GOS 18 with a clinically appropriate urgency.

If your practice is yet to onboard, you can do so via:  EeRS Registration of Interest.
