LOCSU – Local Optical Committee Support Unit

LOCSU supports Local Optical Committees (LOCs) across a spectrum of activities. This support is delivered through practical hands-on engagement via a network of leads, as well as through services provided to LOCs remotely by the national team. These include developing local eye health services utilising optical practices, providing education opportunities through WOPEC, as well as providing governance and compliance support via QiO and our direct links to the wider NHS. We aid LOCs in their work with local commissioners both during negotiation and delivery via support for the Primary Eyecare Companies.

They are also a key link between national professional optic bodies such as the Association of British Dispensing Opticians  (ABDO), the Association of Optometrists (AOP) and the Federation of Ophthalmic (and Dispensing) Opticians (FODO).
