Nottingham University Hospitals - Refractive Outcomes of Cataract Surgery

It has been brought to the attention of Nottinghamshire LOC that the Ophthalmology Department at The Queens Medical Centre, are conducting an internal audit on the refractive
outcomes of cataract surgery. Patients are being asked to present this form to the Optometrist/Practice, for completion when they attend for a sight test after surgery.

The General Ophthalmic Services Contract only requires an Optometrist to provide the patient with a copy of their spectacle prescription or a statement saying that spectacles
are not required on completion of the sight test, providing data to a third party is not a requirement.

Whilst Nottinghamshire LOC support the desire to provide patients with the best possible care in the region, there was no discussion or agreement with the LOC about his
beforehand. Please click here to view Nottinghamshire LOCs response to Mr Maharajan.
